Proximo is embracing the “give back” season. We started November off with our annual CreateAthon, developing marketing materials for non-profits at no cost to them. And there’s more to come! It’s the beginning of the holiday season, a time to give back to family, friends and most importantly, the community. It’s time to celebrate the season of giving!
We want to encourage you to give back in any way that you can. Now more than ever, the world needs people who are willing to give back to their communities. That’s one of the best ways that we can truly make a difference.
Maybe you would love to give back through your business, but aren’t sure how to go about doing so. That’s where we would like to help. Let’s check out some ways that you can give back through your business!
Cross Promotions Through Social Media
A great way to give back is through the use of social media cross-promotion. These work wonders because your campaign gets in front of your audience AND your partners’ audience, for an optimal outcome! For example, Proximo partnered with Northern Neck Popcorn Bag to create our own popcorn for a two week campaign. In turn, 40% of sales went to our favorite non-profit, Fear 2 Freedom!
All of our businesses are exposed to new audiences and we’re raising money for a great cause! Cross promotions like these are a great way to expand your audience, your business, and to give back to the community.
Donating to Local Nonprofits
Sometimes, a direct donation is the easiest, fastest, and one of the most effective ways to support your community. Depending on the non-profit, this may look like monetary donations, supply donations, or even thrift-like donations.
For example, our friends at the Peninsula Rescue Mission have a thrift store, in which proceeds directly affect their men’s shelter. Donations of old clothes, appliances, household items and toys to the store allow them to bring in money to care for the men in their shelter. Plus, there is a bonus for you in direct donations. If your business decides to donate items, services, or money to a non-profit you can use this as a tax write off when tax time rolls around.
To find out exactly what counts as a tax write off and to be sure that you are following all the laws/rules involved, be sure to do your research!
Partnering with Others on Events
Partnering with other businesses for local charity events, fundraisers, etc. is a great way to give back to the community. These events are often fantastic ways to get the community involved, and can help you meet potential customers.
A great example of this would be Peninsula Women’s Network partnering with a local nonprofit to hold a donation drive. Together they set up an event where members of the community could submit donations that would help to benefit the nonprofit.
Another example of this is having a large club/business set up a fundraiser or community event in which all of the proceeds are donated to nonprofits or local programs in need.
We hope that these examples can help spark your desire to give back this season. It doesn’t matter how you choose to give back to your community, we just hope that you do it! Giving back is such a great way to help improve, not only your own business, but the overall community. At Proximo, we truly value giving back to our community.
“And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”
